Hello. I am Christina - an English tutor.
I help people overcome a low level of confidence in their English skills.
I enjoy teaching, coaching, and mentoring as I love seeing the progress of my clients and their lives change for the better.
During our sessions, we work on:
- exploring your motivation for language learning, your resources, strengths, and previous positive experiences;
- listening and speaking skills (we watch video material, discuss it, complete exercises, and learn social phrases);
- reading, discussion, argumentation, and skills of presentation (according to the level of students and their interests);
- grammar (of course. :)) – focus on form and meaning + controlled practice;
For teaching grammar, I use a guided discovery method.
- vocabulary (in the engaging context). I love experimenting with different techniques for memorizing words and phrases, such as a memory palace, associations, emotional engagement, etc;
- freer practice and organic learning, switching from a focused mode to a diffused mode of thinking.
As I have 20 years of business background, I also teach business English.
Having a bachelor's degree in English Philology, I help students improve their academic English skills and prepare for exams (e. g. , IELTS). I use the elements of coaching in my language teaching practice.
For the lessons with me, you will need:
- stable internet connection;
- a computer and connection to Zoom or Google Meet;
- motivation and positive attitude;
- good mood and a smile. :)
- willingness to adopt a learning mindset and improve your quality of life.
I keep the context of the lessons within the scope of my students' interests.
For example, if you are interested in traveling, we speak about countries, languages, history, and the most interesting places to visit.
If you are interested in technologies, we discuss the latest trends in artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnologies, and other breaking technologies, and how they are going to change the world.
If you are interested in psychology, we speak about the relevant concepts, exchange different points of view, and share information about our personal experience.
We read books and have debates. :)
I accept students from the age of 16 (not younger).
